22 – Kuching: The Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Sheda) targets to see at least 10,000 visitors to the Sheda Property Expo 2015, which will open at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) this Friday.
Organising chairman Kevin Choo Chung said the three-day event would feature 113 exhibition booths run by property developers, financial bodies, local authorities, furniture sellers, car dealers and others.
“This expo, which will be held from Sept 25 to 27, has the support and sponsorship from local developers such as Ibraco Bhd, Naim Land Sdn Bhd, Lee Onn Construction Sdn Bhd, MJC City Development Sdn Bhd and CMS Property Development Sdn Bhd.
“Therefore, we would like to invite Sarawakians in general, but especially those from Kuching and Samarahan, to come to the expo,” he said during a press conference yesterday at Sheda’s office in Tabuan Stutong here.
He added that visitors would stand a chance to win attractive prizes such as three units of iPad Air as well as other household appliances through lucky draws, competitions and fringe activities throughout the expo.
“In fact, we have a cash prize of RM1,000 and a trophy to give away in the ‘JuniorStar Karaoke’ competition.”
He also said those bringing their children to the expo could let them join a colouring contest, a 3D model contest as well as a photo session with characters from Disney’s ‘Frozen’.
There will also be a Zumba session, a blood donation drive, as well as talks on ‘feng shui’ and programmes related to property investment.
“We are also holding five talks for for the public, especially those who want to own homes. We will also introduce to visitors an international speaker, who happens to be the REI Group of Companies chief executive director, Dr Daniele Gambero,” Choo said.
This year’s Sheda Property Expo is managed by Absolute Cool Event (ACE), while the official media partner is See Hua Marketing Sdn Bhd together with iProperty.com and ME Info Media Sdn Bhd.
Meanwhile, Sheda president Joseph Wong Kee Lion said the association was currently holding online registration for affordable housing schemes sold at a maximum price of RM250,000.
“We are still waiting for the response from State Planning Unit on our request, which was submitted last July to carry out projects under this scheme; we plan to build at least 10,000 units of affordable houses across Sarawak,” he said.
Wong also hoped that the state government, through the State Planning Unit, would approve the request as it would help the housing sector, especially through the development of more affordable houses for those earning between RM3,000 and RM4,500.
“So far, we have gotten positive response from applicants who have registered under this scheme. Thus we hope the state government would give their response and approval within these two months so we can carry out this project,” he said.
Touching more on the project under the scheme, Wong explained that upon approval, Sheda through identified developers would build 2,000 units of affordable houses in a year in selected areas based on demand.
“Those wanting to find out more and to register are advised to visit www.sheda.org.my. We will also have a registration counter during Sheda Property Expo 2015 at BCCK,” he added.
Also present at the press conference were Sheda committee members Gary Kho Thong How, John Yong and Bobby Ting.
